3. Summer Reading Programs

Every summer the library offers a free summer reading program for adults and children. This program encourages reading during the students' long summer break and offers all ages the chance to attend educational and engaging programming and win prizes. There is a different theme every year and the program is open to all ages. Be sure to ask about this year’s program!

4. Reference Assistance

The Reference Desk is staffed with Librarians and Reference Assistants to help you with your information needs. If you're looking for a book, magazine, DVD, music CD, or just need to know where to start, stop by and ask for assistance. The Reference Desk can also place items on hold, help find research material, assist in downloading library eBooks, or help with general questions about your devices. The Reference Desk has access to multiple online databases and other materials to assist you with your information and research needs.

5. Interlibrary Loan Service

If a book or other item you wish to check out is unavailable at our library, we can place a hold and borrow it from another library using our Interlibrary Loan Service. We will request to borrow the item for you, and if the request is granted, we'll notify you by phone when it is ready to pick up. You may place items on hold at the Reference Desk in person, by phone at 309-697-3822 x13, or by emailing us at alpha@alphapark.org. There is no charge to the patron for this service, however, you must be an Alpha Park Public Library card holder.

6. Notary Public and Voter Registration

We generally have a staff Notary and a Voter Registrar working between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, but please call 309-697-3822 first to make sure they're available before you arrive. For a Notary Public, you’ll want to bring your unsigned document along with a form of ID. To register to vote, you’ll want to bring two forms of ID with one showing your current address.

7. Computers & WiFi

We currently provide six computers for public use. All computers have access to the Internet as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. For those 18 and older, we offer 10 laptops for use in the library, and we now have a variety of tablets (iPad, Kindle Fire, NookHD, Surface Tablet, and Galaxy Tab Pro) to be checked out by Alpha Park Library card holders. Teens may access  laptops in the Youth Services Department. Free WiFi is available anywhere in the library and is accessible without a password. Please stop by the Reference Desk for more information.

9. Printers, Copiers, Scanners, & Fax Machines

We provide a self-service black & white photocopier for patrons to use, as well as color copying available upon request. Patrons can print documents from the public computers. Black and white copies cost 15 cents per page, while color copies cost 30 cents per page. We also have two self-service document scanners available to use for free. Faxes may be sent by the staff at the Circulation Desk for $1 per page for the first ten pages, and then 10 cents for every subsequent page. 

10. Microfilm (Fiche) Reader/Printer

A microfilm reader is available for use anytime during library hours. The library currently offers some back issues of the Limestone News and the Glasford Gazette on microfilm.

11. Talking Books and Assistive Devices 

The library offers a walker and a wheelchair for any patron to use while inside the library. We are also able to register qualified patrons for the free Talking Book service through the State Library's Talking Book and Braille Service. For more information on this program, please 309-697-3822 x91.

12. Public Meeting Rooms

The library has 3 meeting rooms available for public use. Individuals and organizations wishing to utilize meeting rooms for private events must complete an application to be submitted to the Administration Office. Applications can be submitted in-person, by email to angel@alphapark.org, or by calling 309-697-3822 x15.

Small study rooms are also available for public use by making a reservation or on a  first-come, first-served basis for groups of 4 or less. Please call 309-697-3822 x13 for information or to reserve a study room.

13. Curbside Delivery

Curbside Delivery service gives library users the option to place holds on materials and pick them up from the comfort of your vehicle. Call the Circulation Desk at 309-697-3822 x10 to make arrangements.
